Apollo N. Njoroge

Apollo, an experienced financial executive with over 24 years’ experience in Retail, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Banking across East Africa has joined Faulu Microfinance Bank limited as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

Prior to his appointment, he was Acting Managing Director, Equity Bank in Uganda, where he also held the positions of Executive Director and Chief Operations Officer.  He has held the following positions at Equity Bank in Kenya; General Manager in charge of Business Relationships and Head of Business Growth & Development. He has also worked in African Banking Corporation Limited and Investments & Mortgages Bank.

Chief Operating Officer

Tom Juma

Tom joined Faulu Micro Finance Bank in August 2014 as the General Manager Technology and Operations having been seconded from Old Mutual Kenya. He joined Old Mutual Kenya in 2008 and has held various senior executive positions the last being the ICT Executive. A career banker, prior to Old Mutual Kenya, Tom worked with various banks in Kenya, amongst them Housing Finance and National Bank in various senior executive positions.

He is a holder of PhD in Information Technology, MBA in Strategic Management, Msc in Information Systems and Management, Bachelor in Technology and Management Science, Management Advanced Leadership Program from Wits Business School and several professional certifications in project management (PRINCE2 Practioner), CISA, Senior CSSP, LEAN and ITIL. He is a fellow of the Computer Society of Kenya, Member of the Executive Advisory board of Aitec East Africa, Member of the Policy Advisory Board, Computer Society of Kenya and CIO East Africa Forum. He is a Hall of Fame 2008 International Who is Who Society of Professionals.


Head of Risk and Compliance

Grace Thiongo

Grace joined Faulu Bank in January 2017 as Head of Risk and Compliance.

She is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K) and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). She is also a member of the Institute of Certified Internal Auditors Australia (MIIA). She holds an MBA from the Melbourne Business School (Australia) and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi together with other short term professional courses.

She has over 13 years of working experience and has held several risk management roles including Group Audit and as Risk and Compliance Manager at Australia New Zealand (ANZ) Banking Group reviewing the Bank’s business and operations across Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia.

Before joining the Australia New Zealand (ANZ) Banking Group, she worked at Deloitte in Nairobi and Melbourne.

Head Of Internal Audit

Paul Kahoro

Paul started his career as an auditor in PKF Kenya before joining Faulu Microfinance Bank in July 2006. He has served in various capacities including Senior Audit Manager before being appointed as the Head of Internal Audit in June 2012. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA (K) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). He is currently pursuing an MBA degree at the University of Nairobi.

Head of Treasury

Maureen Mbori

Maureen joined Faulu in October 2016 as the Head of Treasury. She has over 10 years’ experience in the banking industry after previously worked for National Bank as Fixed Income & Money Market Dealer, Eco- Bank Kenya as Asset and Liability Officer, NIC Bank as Fixed Income & Money Market Dealer and Treasury Officer at I&M Bank.

Maureen has an MBA in Strategic Management and a BSC in Information Technology. (First Class honors)
She has attended a number of trainings including derivatives training courtesy of NSE and Dreadnought Capital South Africa Bloomberg, Reuters Proficiency Training and Thomson Reuters Seminar.

Head of Human Resource and Administration

Peter Iha

Peter joined Faulu in November 2012 as Human Resource Manager, Branch Relations.He was promoted to Senior Manager Human Resource Business Relationship.

Peter is widely experienced in Human Resource issues and has 25 years’ experience in Banking Industry. Prior to joining Faulu, he was the Relationship Manager Retail at Co-operative bank.

Peter has a Masters in Human Resource Management, an MBA in Strategic Management, Bachelor of Commerce Accounting and Business Administration and a Diploma in Leadership Coaching.
Notable training he has attended include Training in Balance Scorecard Professional at Balance Scorecard Institute

Head of Finance and Strategy

Julius Taliani

Julius joined Faulu in October 2016 as the Head of Finance. He was later appointed as Head of Finance and Strategy in May 2017.

He has worked for over 15 years specializing in Finance and Accounting in the Banking and Insurance sectors. Prior to joining Faulu, he was the Chief Finance Officer at Invesco Assurance Co. Ltd. He also previously worked with Old Mutual Kenya as the Finance Manager-Operations and with KCB (Sudan) Ltd. as the Finance & Administration Manager.

Julius is widely experienced in strategic planning, business systems re-engineering, process restructuring for operational efficiency, cost management and risk & compliance monitoring. He also has an outstanding track record in coaching and developing high performance cross-functional teams.

He has an MBA (Finance) and a B.Com (Accounting) both from the University of Nairobi and is a qualified Certified Public Accountant, CPA (K). He holds memberships with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (I.C.P.A.K) and the Kenya Institute of Bankers (K.I.B).

Head of Marketing

Caroline Kipsanai

Caroline has led the Marketing, Research and Product Development Department at Faulu since April 2014. She is a Bachelor of Arts graduate from the University of Nairobi and Management Advancement Program from the Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg, South Africa.

She has 19 years’ experience in building strong brands across FMCG, Financial Services, Healthcare, Social Marketing and other sectors, garnered while at Scanad, Young & Rubicam, McCann and Ogilvy & Mather. Her strengths lie in strategic leadership, project management and mentorship.

Head of Credit

Nahashon Ojode

Nahashon joined Faulu in April 2017 as the Head of Credit. He has previously worked at Equity Bank Kenya as Credit Risk Manager, Equity South Sudan as Head of Credit and Rwanda as General Manager Credit. Previously he worked at Family Bank and Standard Chartered as Credit Manager .

Nahashon has over 16 years’ experience in the banking industry.
He has a MSc. in Entrepreneurship Development, BSc in Information Science, Several credit, leadership and strategy courses.

Head of Collections

Peter Onsongo

Peter joined Faulu Microfinance Bank in 2011 as Credit Administration Manager. He was later appointed as Head of Collections in April 2017.He previously worked with Equity Bank Kenya Ltd where he held various positions including Corporate Credit Manager.

He has 11 years’ experience in Banking-Credit Management.He holds a Global Executive MBA (GEMBA) and a BSC degree (International Business Administration-Accounting) from United States International University. He is certified by Frankfurt School of Finance and Management as International Certified SME Expert, and also an Associate of Kenya Institute of Bankers(AKIB).
