Carolyne Chelagat

Carolyne, lives in Kawangware with her husband and children both boys, aged 11 years and 8 years, she also cares for her sister and her parents. She heard about Faulu 12 years ago, when people from her community got involved.  
Caroyne eventually joined Faulu in 2006 when a friend approached her with the purpose of starting a group to access a loan. After recruiting the other 15 members of the group, called Mother’s Success, she became the Chairwoman of the group.

 

Since then, she has accessed four loans (Ksh 20,000, Ksh 50,000, Ksh 100,000 and Ksh 150,000). The first she spent on establishing a business selling nuts in her local market, she also bought a machine to grind nuts. The other loans she spent on buying stock to boost her business which continues to expand. Recently she introduced peanut butter to her line of products, which she makes with the nut grinding machine.She has used Mkopo biashara product:


“I’m a business woman and this loan and these rates suit my business. I they helped me to start this business and they continue to help me to expand. This has improved my life a lot. I have used my increased earnings to send my kids to school and provide for my family. I have even been able to buy some land.”
